More tank pics, updated

Okay, new hutch for Kong. As usual, he starts showing off when he sees the camera. He started pushing the marimo balls back and forth. The big marimo ball he squished into a pancake. He's loving the extra room...now he can 'stretch out' with his fins in his new digs. The color also makes the tank look brighter inside. For those of you who don't know, Kong is a jumbo sized parrot...he was stuffed into the 8 inch pot and had to bend his tail. The new cannister is 11 inches wide.

Nice! Cichlids have a lot of personality, maybe I'll get one someday. I have a lot of south american catfish (synodontids are so dang sensitive and I don't want to spend $150 for it to die because nitrate went to 1 ppm), so maybe an oscar in there, idk.

Do you have any suggestions for a midsized, not-too-aggressive SA cichlid?

I've had all kinds of fish before but this was my first go with cichlids. It's been fun, exhausting and a pain in the ass. It all got started when the female parrot laid eggs, got hyper aggressive and wanted the huge tank herself. Then all the parrots started fighting. So one parrot is in the main tank with the oscar and the other two are separate. The female parrot Patch has teeth and beat everybody up.

I can only say get some recommendations from folk here more experienced with cichlids. Maybe I should have gotten goldfish, lol.

You might like a t-bar cichlid. Some like the electric blue dempsey too.
