Pip eventually stops completely and just stares at the camera. She's always done this.

You can see her bunged up lip from the nonsense.

After a long hiatus of a whole lot of nothing, plans are moving forward.

First, the downstairs projects. The kitchenette cabinets and new faucet will be installed very soon. Likely a one day job (only 3 cabinets with the new faucet and basket).

Next up will be the fish room renovation/repair completion. Want to get everything wrapped up by late January probably sooner.

Other repair projects completed: rotted out and leaking kitchen disposal replaced (nothing like a kitchen pool at 2am). Dishwasher door cables will be replaced over the pulleys so the door stops crashing open. That will be done next week.

I will be moving Kong and Tango's tanks out of the fishroom temporarily for renovation access. Kong's wood stand is showing a bit of space between the tabletop boards likely caused by shrinkage from dryer air. Don't like that.

I will be glad to get this stuff done so the basement can have some order again. And then...concentrate of the cube tank project.

Haven't donated the hrp babies yet due to the cold weather but that's on the agenda too. The wood stand Backfromthedead Backfromthedead built for me will be going in my office space where intended. Later I will start painting it when everything else settles down.

I'm off the next few days so I'll be getting the wood planks for the metal stands as well.

I love my custom wood stand. It's been with me for about 20 years, taken a bunch of water and abuse, and still happily holds like 800 pounds of water. Main tank is 6" higher than normal stands, so 36" vs 30", which is a HUGE cost upgrade for commercial stands.

2x4's, plywood, and multiple cans of water resistant black and waterproof matte paint.

Keeping fish is cool, but a custom stand that will outlive you and is made precisely to your specifications? VERY cool.

My custom stand will be painted a pumpkin orange color to coordinate with my office and tank deco. The planned cube should hold between 127-133 gallons. Really excited about the non standard format too.

Go all out with waterproofing primer and paint and coating. You'll hate me as you apply like the 10th layer, but you will love me in 20 years.

I have the wood planks for the metal stands now (red oak, 3/4"). will be painting those white. Will get the other metal stand assembled soon so I can move Kong and Tango's tanks. The kitchenette downstairs is now done so the fish room will be next.

Meanwhile, tiny news...hrp Brutus is officially a showcase hrp. If I can get him to stay still long enough I'll grab a pic. The blood parrots now eat out of spoons. Tango meanwhile keeps pulling out the air hose from his sponge filter in a happy game. I find the open end of the hose on the floor. Cichlids!
