Most aggressive fish for a 75 gallon

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I will have to look into that I love those fish that splash and make a scene
I agree with you, they have more personality that way imo. But I've seen dovii less aggressive than my fire mouth And my fire mouth is extremely aggressive ( believe it or not) but other fire mouths can be very skittish. It all comes down to the personality of the fish as every fish is different.

A red devil would as well, 75g is that annoying middle ground where it is to big for small fish and the real tank terrors are just a little too big.

I agree. Rules out all the aggressive, glass banging male cichlids which need around 180G+ to thrive. If you used your 125G for a single fish instead, you could theoretically put in a female dovii, or umbee, or butti, as they are smaller than males, but it would be pretty borderline and they wouldn't be as aggressive.

Personally, if I was stuck with a single wet pet in a 75G and you didn't want an oscar (my first choice), I would go with a single nice male green terror (rivulatus). They are aggressive but not overly so, but they are also gorgeous to look at, and would be a perfect wet pet for a 75G.

Well I have a proposal ever since I have looked at jaguar cichlid I love them they are stunning! Just a question here I would be getting a 125 this year but it's already been ruled that it will be a community type setup with the oscar and tankmates how long could I keep a jag in a 75 gallon tank like a solid 1.5 years or 2? Just curious if it could live happily for 2 years I could upgrade to a 5 foot 120 gallon down the road for him! Would this be ok to do? If not that's fine I just want to see how long I could keep one!

I think a riv is a good option too. Btw, I think female butti also get to be the size of tanks lol

I think the consensus here is that a male jag should be kept in a 180. They're monster fish man. A 120 sounds like a big tank but I've personally seen an adult male jag in a 120 and he dwarfed that tank.

Honestly, just try to find a hyper aggressive red devil that someone has to get rid of bc he is being a terror to tankmates. If you don't like the color go with a green terror or red tiger motaguense. Red Devils and the RTM imo are the most aggro fish for a 75 other than some (some are skittish and some are murderous) black piranha. The RTM look great especially females. Females stay smaller than males so you'll see that she'll be happier in a 75g than a male. Some will say (and I agree) a male is too big, but a female is not and just as aggressive. They are also in the parachromis genus so the look somewhat similar to managuense (jaguar) and dovii (the terminator of cichlids) so you might like the looks, shape, and all that jazz.
