Just out of curiousity.... what makes you think that this is indeed a "muppy" as you call it?
It's kind of easy to tell by what he said. All of the other fry died of fin deformities. That hardly ever happens to normal baby guppies or mollies.

i had platy and a guppy mix...ugh, there was one cute all black baby, the rest were ugly or didn't really last long. they were pretty weak. i wouldn't say it's really worth it, but you can go for it and see what happens
Isn't that imposible? They are a different genus.

It is impossible like I said earlier. It comes down to females already exposed to the males' presence. Unless the females have been separated from males as early as it is possible to distinguish their sexes, then chances are it is already gravid because of a male of the same genus.

Platy and Guppy is not possible because of the genus but Molly and Guppy"Muppy" is. Female Molly and Male Guppy. I'm not sure the other way around. The mother and father of my Muppy was isolated in a tank alone. I did not think it was possible for them to mix but in the hospital tank it happened. I was still unsure that it was the guppy until the fry was born and not 100% until coloring and tail developed. Green yellow and black on the tail just like the father along with its flowing waviness unlike a molly tail. And yes along with the deformaties also including an enlarged gonopodium.

is there anyway to post a short video on the forum. you would get a better idea of this if you could see my little guy in action in the tank. He's kind of an inspiration to me.

haha this is awesome! i had never thought of breeding a "Muppy" before... Do you think you can breed Killies and Guppies?

How would you breed an egglayer with a livebearer?

dont get it wrong i didnt do this on purpose. to do it on purpose and knowing the death and deformaty rate i think would get into the cruel end of things.
