Brisbane, Australia
8 Tinfoil barbs
1 arowana
2 Common Plecos
Convicts ????
severums
Oscars
jack Dempsey's

I would keep the Tinfoils, Plecs, Arowana, Oscar, Severum, Jack Dempsey, Convict. And then add a Texas, Jaguar (Debatable), Green Terror, Vieja Argentea and or Zonatus.

Then on top of that add a Datnoid (Debatable) and a Clown Knife.

You may get away with another Arowana.

You may see this as overstocked, but its 1400G's your working with. Some people have this amount of fish in a 600G.

Your original stocking would prove bland, boring and WAYYYYYY understocked IMO.

Cool project. I was thinking the same thing about the viewing windows...LOL I was confused thinking you were making an indoor pond.

But that tank is going to be sweet.

Keep us posted.

owning a 1400g aquarium is one thing, filling it til its stocked is another, but feeding is the one most people forget about lol.

awesome project, if i had that thing, i would do nothing less then a ton of aros for the surface as 11x4 is an amazing swimming space for quite a few aros.

get creative, and show us your style by putting what u want in it.

Pretty awesome in design.. I'll have to follow this, wouldn't mind doing something similar eventually.. I like how it just sits on the ground.

i guess im the only one that thinks this is a little sketchy? :irked:
sorry but i must be missing something?
where the plywood meets on the 2' pieces theres no bracing?
and there really isnt that much bracing at all that i see. :irked:
i hope your putting a top or cross bracing on the top.

this one is only 300g more then yours.different dimens.
but it shows the difference in bracing :irked:

http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=45035

and check out the beefy ness in my 480g wood pond in my diy thread.

sorry to be a downer but better to hear it now before its done.
and im sure that would hold water, but for how long, and how long till that 11' span starts to bow.
:irked:
good luck tho :)

"just looked again,i would have done what you did for the floor on all the sides.
then there wouldnt be a worry in the world."

Oh I am no where near done bracing lol
I will be adding 3/4" plywood triangles to every corner about a foot or 16" long
there is also gonna be 2-2X6 cross braces about a 2 1/2 ' feet in on both ends an then I got 2- 2X10 cross braces in the middle

I am also designing the canopy to be one massive brace Its hard to explain but when I get there I will post pics
an for added brace the tank is gonna sit tight to one exterior concrete wall an one main support wall so they are added strength
Also where ever wood touches wood I have used construction adhesive (PL Premium) to add extra bonding as well as sinking wood screws every 4 "

I am also finishing the outside of the tank with 2X6 tounge an groove pine boards
the inside plywood is 3/4" an the the outside is 1/2" or 5/8" I cant really remember
as for the floor its a concrete pad the tank sits on an I made a 2x6 floor system with the joists running every 12" an that is all glues an screwed

as for stocking I completly agree with ethnics on the feeding costs I ahve a buddy who built a 1020 gallon tank here is the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ieklBWBRTA8
his dimensions are 8' long by 4' tall an 6' wide
an he goes through a huge amount of food like 1lbs of trout pellets an 1lbs of shrimp a week
