I have another update!
I have re-bonded the back wall of the tank to the top, I hope it holds, I'm considering gluing a 7'x3" piece of acrylic on the outside of the tank to reinforce it. Any thoughts on this? I used Weld On 16 to make the repair, sanded both surfaces before gluing and clamped them while the glue cured.
I installed a strip light inside the stand - this has worked out very nice! I can see what I'm doing now!
The 40g breeder I purchased for a sump is currently at a local glass shop. I'm having them drill two holes for my external pump bulk heads and cut glass for my baffles. I decided on having them drill the tank as they charged less for two holes then the bit would have cost me. And I do not need to worry about breaking the tank
The canister filters and pump are completely plumbed in - I hope to do a leak test tonight - I'm so excited to get water in this thing!!
Most of my overflow plumbing is complete, I need my sump back before I can finish this up and plumb the return pumps. I decided to go with a "Herbie" style overflow, pics below.
Picked up 200lbs of pool filter sand at a local pool supply place. I like the look of this stuff, it is almost white and seems to be very clean and have a consistent grain size. I'm going to look at a couple of landscape supply yards on my lunch break today and see if I can find some rocks for inside the tank.
I still need to order Poret foam and SeaChem Pond Matrix for my sump.
A few pics;
Canister filters and Uno pump in position. I need to paint the shelf for the canisters.
Plumbing started. I'm using quite a bit of flexible 3/4" PVC, this stuff is easy to work with.
Canister and some of the overflow plumbing.
Details of overflow and return plumbing. The bulkheads/LocLines nearest the ends of the tank will be for the sump return. The returns for the canister are plumbed into the front of the overflow boxes. The bulkheads entering the top of the tank are for the canister intake.
Drilled 1.25" PVC for my Herbie style overflow.
Overflow details.
