when I spoke to a rep from Liquid Rubber they suggested using Butyl Rubber Caulking to seal the glass then PC over it. I haven't tried it or even looked at Butyl yet but passing it on. I'm waiting to get my hands on my PC so I can do some trials
I have looked for this stuff locally when my troubles began and the only BR Caulk I could find was a rubber/silicone blend. I know DAP makes a BR caulk that is for guttering but again, cant find it locally. I am confident what I have come up with will do the job. I was examining the bond between the fiberglass resin and the PC again this AM and you cant get the PC off the resin.....a good sign.

Glad to see you found a solution to the problem. I'm sure there are a lot of people watching this thread anxiously waiting for your results, so they feel more confident to start their own build. I know I am.

I'm with you. I might be building a plywood tank in the not so distant future. I'd like to use Pond Coat, but if it doesn't seal to glass and/or silicon, I might use something else.

one of the builders here, Used a "paintable" silicone, and then just bridge it over the silicone with PC

I see where he used paintable silicone but that really would not help much with the bridging part. The PC does not stick to the glass so the only thing I would realy accomplish was putting PC on silicone. I really think I have a solution to the PC/Glass issue. PC sticks gerat to the fiberglass resin, silicone sticks to the resin. The frame has been coated in resin, I will carefully silicone the glass into the frame, and then PC over the resin up to the silicone around the frame. Should be water tight!

Might be over kill but you could probably also make a border of resin on the glass then bridge with pond coat. Don't know if it would gain anything but should work.

Hmmmm, resin on the glass, never thought of that! I'll have to give it a test and see what happens.

I am also eagerly awaiting the "best practice" outcome from several threads. They have a direct impact on a rather elaborate build I have in the planning stage. I find it comforting to have the experience of others when planing a potential 500g disaster in my living room. Many years ago I did a 600g headache without the benefit of others experience and want to get this one done right the first time.

Thank you to all the people currently doing monster plywood builds with the newest materials and making life better for me. You rock!:headbang2
