It probobly isnt required but if I were dealing with a tank that size with that kind of water volume, the extra $40 in plywood would be cheap insurance. I just want to make sure that the seam in the back wall is strong, very strong. If I were going to do a build like that I would go 12' and get the most out of my materials.

12' you say? Hmmm. I must think about this one. Great food for thought, though. Volume: 1,436.25974 U.S. Gal.; Volume weight: 12,208.20779 lbs.

I need more time to think about this and process it more. Tempting. Very tempting. I'll get back with you on this through a PM.

BTW, I know you have posted more pic's since you had the incident with your 1st piece of glass. I was just wondering, where are the rest? Can't seem to bring them up on the thread. Maybe website technical difficulties? Oh well, I'll stay tuned for more adventures on this thread.

can you post them on an e-mail if I send you my address to you in a PM?

All i do is upload the pics into an album then post the bb code into the post. Works well, and no loss from the crash.

Just a FYI but am sure you already know.

Yes Ross, you do have a very supportive wife who shares a love for the same hobby you enjoy. Thanks for the clarification, there!

My wife asked me the other day, "Why dont you just make it 2' longer?" Her thinking was to make my tank 4'x4'x10' instead of 4'x4'x8'. Aren't we blessed to have such supportive wives? The bigger question now is . . . Where does one find 3/4"x4'x10' sheets of 7 or 9 ply - plywood, with out making a special order for an entire unit (a banded stack) of the plywood? Lowes and Home Depot doesn't carry it as part of their normal inventory. It's all special order and I'd have to buy the entire unit of plywood. A.K.A. ---> A BUTT LOAD OF CASH. :WHOA: Please Advise!!

im building a 10footer. i just cut it into 6 and 4 foot peices. I did call around looking for a 10 foot peice. i didnt have to buy a whole unit but it would of cost me $200 a sheet

ross did you say the pond coat have already turned brown? Mfk and pictures are not getting along right now.

Yes, the PC starts turning brown right after it gets wet. If you let water sit on it for 5-10 minutes, you will see the change starting. It turns out a shade or 2 darker then the brown it is in the bucket before you apply it. I like the color. I did have a sand bottom but have since covered the sand with black eco complete and I really like that look. Still need to add anout 2-3 bags of eco to get it where I want it.

That is a butt load of cash for one sheet of plywood. I think I may take your method into consideration but only a 12 ft'r. and not a 10 ft'r. Still undecided though. I really need to make a decission here.

See what you started here BadOleRoss? Don't cha' just love it? I know I do, the undecisiveness I can do without though. BTW, the wife says, "Thanks", too.
