Ohhh nvm you can use coco coir substrate it works better for them plus allows them to dig you can also do a coir sand mix I never tried it but i heard people having success with it
Use coir or sand or both never rocks hermits can hurt them selfs on big rocks they also like to dig and might get stuck under a rock

That might be a tank size problem hermits are also territorial and can be canibals ik the smallest of the ones I had got eaten by the giant one I had 2 big ones and 2 small ones 3 of them survived and one died well now there all dead cause it got way to cold in my room one night and i didnt have a heat matt
