My Aussie Native Tank

It's going good, I will need to take some pics for you but have to get ontop of the algae problem, the water is that bad you can just see the fish. The gararge has 2 clear panels on the roof, I need to put some shade mesh up or something. I think the wood in there is also leaching alot of tanins, I will need to get some purigin rejuvinator to redo the bag I have and I will put it in the sump to fix that. I bought a 45cm barra from the asian market for $17, they went to kill it and I said "no I will take him home live in this esky, he's for my tank". I thought I would try him as a tank mate, its been going good so far. I will post a pic once the tank looks good enough. The Jack has put on some mass, he's growing real quick.

Update of my 8x2.5x2.5 salt water native tank. I rescued the Barra from certain death from the Asian fish market. Feeding time is fun, they eat from my hand and make one hell of a splash!

Nice looking barra and jack.I used to have a small jack,it was sold as a red fin datnoid but I knew better.....For some reason I can't view your pictures of your native tank.

Hi krichardson, I remember you saying that you were sold one that was labelled a redfin Datnoid. The other pics are'nt showing because I had them hosted on my old works FTP server, I quit and had to remove them. I need to get around to uploading them again, I just haven't had time. It takes so long to upload.

Oh,okay..What can you tell me about the Bullrout? I like them and only one store here brings them in but they are usually about an inch or slightly bigger and they never live for very long.

Looking good.
krichardson Bullrout are catadromous at 1' should still be in saltwater or brackish at 25ppt minimum, in the wild they dont move up into freshwater till they are 3' or so. They do best on live food at < 3' will eat pretty much anything that moves that they can swallow. Prefer shrimp over anything though.

i recently had to decide whether to get a barramundi or wolf cichlid, i chose the wolf but after seeing ur tank i'm thinking i might have to set up a aust natives. keep up the good work

Okay thanks Aussie but do you mean feet or inches?

Sorry meant inches, my dodgy typing.
That's okay, figured you meant inches...I'm not really into brackish but I could set up a tank just to be able to keep bullrout successfully.
