My Channa Pleurophtalma youngsters

Hi all,

here is again a small video of my Pleorophthalma group. I filmed them during feeding, but they where so hungry that nearly nothing of the given feederparts came to ground. to the end of the video i put in a extra load of food, because my catfish didnt get till then any food.

The quality is not as good as i supposed but the D90 is not a high8 or even a DV.

Hi dudes,

sorry for beeing a long time away, had alot of work to do. But the good news are i got plenty of Pictures with hugh progress out of my Pleurotank. I will try to show you the pictures in the correct sequence so you can all see the more and more stronger couloration of my formerly youngsters. I feed them one to twice in the week, with shrimps, shells, Octopuse, and Fish (no live ones), Bloodworms, earthworms and so on. Only a hand full will also eat Chichlidsticks and other industrial stuff. There are all around 24cm to 34cm tall. In the direct compair to another mate he feed his pleuros 3times a day keept them in an 5time bigger tank do permanent waterchanges and runs 2 degrees Celsius highter temperature, his ones reached the 50cm mark.
But enough with the words, its Picturetime :headbang2:popcorn: :headbang2

looking great mate, glad to see there doing good, rude question but did you loose and from the group wilst they were growing up, i got a male and female but she killed him one day, however she is looking hot now,as are you group, well done, any signs of pairing?
also is that a channa pulchra i spy? hows he fair with the group....stunning colouration

Hi all,

thanks alot for the feedback.

@SCN hope i understand all right. I only loose 1 Pleuro when i got the gang of 20. It was the smallest one and he wont eat anything. Then i give a made of mine 6 Pleuros (the well grown ones, because he wants only 6 out of his former 9 amount and what does he do? he killed them all at the first weekend). I last with my 13 Pleuros and didnt loose anymore by my thelve. So i can say i only lost one who was the tinniest and not health looking one.
Pairing i think i filmed this week the first paring action. My Pleuros went dark blue/green and they good golden sprinkels all over the body and a black nose. The other Pleuros whent nearly white and also get a dark black head. There where no agression before and during and after the pair swimmimg and impressing. They are also grabing my plants out of the ground so that they flood on the surface. They bite my Valesneria down and my Echinodoros. So it looks like a nest on the surface. Then they where all under and between the plants. I upload the video as soon i get some time. I think that is not a agression behavio because there where no chaseing or hunting thing at all also there were everytime a male and female pleuro intodruce at the action. Different colouration since i got them different bodyshape and headshape. So i am preaty sure that i saw first paaring action. I changed the temperature 1-2 degress less then before and also installed an other tunze. So i had right now 14.000liter per hour streaming in my 1000Liter tank. The pleuros loves it. More contrast in the colouration more activity...this weekend i sell the first 4 Pleuros because all 13 are to big for this tank. So i had to do this step for the fish. But still no aggression no harming no biteing or any aggression. Not even got a damaged fin at all. I hope i will load up the video on sunday evening, than you all can see what i mean. The plant biteing think i missed to film i was frozen dureing that action, could not belive what i saw.

SCN you are right one Pulchra is still living with my Pleuros he is the tuffest and so called survivor. It was one of my 500 breed and all other were eaten but he survived as the fittest and act like a Pleuro. He is very fast when i feed them and mostly he is the first who will get something. Funniest think is when he is trying to impresse the Pleuros like this is my javafarn root but the Pleuros didnt understand him and so he will give it up after a time. But normally he is between the Pleuros like he is self one.

WOW! I did not see this topic before, but what an awesome tank!!

What strikes me is that my male pleuro has much more yellow spots on his lower body than yours (at least the one in the video (balz).

Further more I really think it's awesome you keep such a big group! Can you show some pictures from your friends tank (with the 50 cm pleuro's)? That would be awesome.

And please keep posting pics and video's of your tank too!!

Hi Loubard,

http://board.raubsalmler.de/viewtopic.php?t=7217&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0
