My DIY Drip System/Water Changer

I have posted a few pics of this, but I thought I would write out a more detailed list of what it took to get it working. I will also try to get up a cost list, but It will be a rough estimate.

I wanted a drip system that would allow you the ability to vary the amount of water changed. Also, I like the idea of being able to still simulate the environmet and do the whole rainy season water change thing.

This was my idea.... a dosing controller that allows you to specify the amount of water changed and when to change it. I bought an irrigation controller and an irrigation valve to perform this function. This controller operates similar to a thermostat. Just set in the time and frequency and let it go.
The issues I had came from the ability to find all the right pieces with the right connections. As you can see by the pics, I had to have quite a few different connections to make this work. I also ran into issues with the water pressure at my house. If your water pressure is low, such as a well system, then you don't have to worry. The pressure regulator I used drops the pressure to about 50 psi. I found out I needed to install this after soaking myself. LOL

1. Water Controller - $26 (should have bought the 4 connection one, it was only $20)

4. Chloramine Filter - $65
5. 1/4" Tubing - $0.15/ft (30 ft, which was WAY too much)
6. 1/2" ID Tube - ~ $0.35 (1 foot)
7. 3/4" Hose Adapters - $3 (2)
8. 3/4" Fine Thread Adapters - $2 (4)
9. 1/4" to Hose Adapter - $5
10. 1/2" PEX Tubing adapters - $3 (3)
11. 3/4" PVC - $2
12. 3/4" PVC Adapters - ~ $0.50 (4)

All in all it was about $140, probably a little cheaper as a few of the prices were rounded. I also had a bunch of stuff laying around that I had used for other stuff, so I had already paid for it.
