my diy quick drain!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
LOL

I got a mouth full of water the first time i did that with the hose I use to drain and fill. Its nasty!

heres some pix on how i made the strainers "or whatever they are" :D

i made 2 more quick drains "pics sometime of those" :D

cut the metal to size
drill the holes for the zip ties
"the water will stop sucking at these holes"
round the metal and install it
then add the zipties

also drilled a hole in the cap cus it will hold water once you remove it from the tank

:)

mmmm syphon..... it fitting behind the tank is a wonderful thing... i use 3/4" vinyl tubing... it hangs over that shelf thing people put over toilets.... looks like hell but it keeps it from growing funk in it between waterchanges...

i did pvc cus tubing with big i.d diameter costs alot

ok so i made/used my new quick drain for my 55g
think this one was around 5 bucks
it has to go across the top of my 90g then out the window
i made it 3 pieces so it can go behind my big tank like the rest of them

this one to start it i sucked
then it stopped
then sucked again
then it stopped again
stood and thought for a sec what to do
aha
stick the garden hose in it
let it run for a few seconds
then stop and then it just started to back flow

this 1" quick drain drained about 30g in around 1 minute
:headbang2
"thin 1" not sch 40"

will be showing my 90g quick drain tomorrow

Only advice I have is put a bucket under the outlet so you dont dig a hole in the ground where the water comes out. Looks good, sounds like it works real good too.

ive been looking into something like this to run into my toilet.... tanks in basement so i cant run it outside.... just dont have room to store it...
