anyone have ideas on what to make the mold out of?
something that it wont stick to and will leave it smooth.

hmm,what else can i imbed :)
just coat the inside of a wooden mold with wax then you will have to "polish" it to make it clear with a torch
wax,how would you put wax on?isnt it hard?
i think ive seen people use vaseline on tv before??

Just make a wooden cube with no top on it. Before you do it just go buy some perrafin wax and melt it in an old pot and dip the pieces of wood in. Then you may have to pour some in the seams of the cube so it don't leak. When it dries your going to have to do it all over again so you can get the backside of the fish and make it look like its in the middle of the cube unless you have a different trick.
