So here's the long awaited pictorial update. I moved just about a month ago, to a place with less room, but I was really happy that I found a place to put my monster 75g tank and I don't have to downsize and give up any of my plant space.

One of the original Bonsai's:

The BIG mamma-jamma (well over 30cm now...):

I'm getting ready to Bonsai the rest of these, as I don't want them to get much higher:

And the runt...

And a few of my other notables -

The freshwater Palm putting out some really nice new growth:

And the Leather Fern nice and full, and pushing out some new stock:

Wow! Nice work growing those plants. They look fantastic.

I only started to try that cat palm this year, but it is shaping up to be a really good ripairum plant. It starts tout growing slow, but then every new leaf is bigger than the last.

Thanks hydro! The palm is really cool, I love how the new leaves come out looking solid, then slowly start splitting into fronds...

Question - can I break the new fern offshoot and replant in another planter?

subscribed...sick tank.
Thanks man!

Yeah I like that cat palm a lot too. I placed an order earlier this week that includes several swamp or stream-associated palms. That cat palm is a pretty common potted houseplant, but some of these other ones are rare and obscure plants. I can't wait to see them.

Yes you can divide the leather fern. It clumps very tight so it is difficult to seperate the little side shoots. It would help to have a sharp knife or shears to carefully cut away the little division with some leaf and roots.

Oh man, oh man! You gotta post up those new palms when they come in, I'm like a kid waiting for Xmas once I read that!

Thanks for the tips on separating the fern, I'll let you know how it goes when I get back home.

Did a little more bonsai-ing, just waiting for them to put out some more new shoots to have something to show. It's my first time doing a second trimming on the original bonsai's so I'm really interested in seeing where they grow now...

Soooo, no new growth since I've trimmed them last... almost 2 weeks ago... I think they're confused on where to push out new growth.
