I would shut down the 55gal all together and use that fx5 as a house for nothing but media in that 125 gal tank. I would also get rid of the sponge filters and just run air stones/disks. Also you want to make sure that there isn't any "dead spots" in your tank.

Sorry for you lose in fish brother, we've all been there. It's all part of the hobby.

Nice update!
Way to keep at it. All you can do is learn and improve from there.
A bigger tank w/ a sump w/ built in overflow solves these issues.
When bass get large they will knock off or break unsturdy objects in the tank.

Swimmin' with the fishes
These two are in the 125 grow out probably for only another 2 months. I'm slowly moving everyone over from the 125 to the 300 which has a closed loop pointed up, two powerheads pointed to cause surface agitation and a 75g refugium moving 2400 gph through it.

It's just a matter of moving the bigger fish first. I've got to move an Ornate bichir, 3 endli bichirs, 2 congicus bichirs, then these girls. And I'm planning to do one a week

If it were me id move the bass first. Bichir just sit around and dont need the space as much.
Thats just me tho. I would do the 2 bass at once and then monitor the params for a week or so and add some more fish.

Well right now the bass are too small for the fish currently in the 300. Also 3 of the bichirs are 18"+ so really should get out of the 125 asap.

So my plan was to grow them out another couple inches, so they can hold their own against two 12" oscars, two 12" indo datnoids, soon to be two 20" FL gar, 2 18" TSN and an 18" TSN x RTC hybrid. (Catfish will be moving out soon once they get big enough to not be eaten by the 24" RTC)

Too many fish, not enough grow out tanks... :/
