I've still got two left from the 6. But one now has really bad pop eye and the other has been sitting on the bottom not moving.

Both are breathing normal though which is good.

I'm guessing what happened is that once one died it was a snowball effect from the huge ammonia spike.

I did two 50% water changes last night about 6 hours apart. Dosed heavy on the amquel+ and left the lights off since this happened. When I get home tonight I'm going to do another water change and continue them through the weekend.

Hopefully I'll be able to move fish around so I can get these guys in the 125 without getting destroyed by the current fish in there. But until they're swimming around like normal, they'll stay where they are.

Anyone know where to get another 2 bar bahia Kelberi....? :(

consider maybe adding a bit of salinity to the tank to help them breathe a big easier as well...I know this situation sucks I had a bad die off when I was on military duty for 2 weeks. ex called me to say every native fish in my 310 died "for no reason". still have no idea how she killed them haha.

Well the good news is these two appear to have made a full recovery. Even ate some massivore today. The Kelberi still has some pop eye going on, but it's gone down almost 90% from yesterday.

I was also able to sex them and the hybrid is a male while the Kelberi is a female. Male is >0 right?

Plan is to get them healed up and strong and move them in to the display to grow some more.

Good recovery.

If you plan on moving them to a 125g(too small still), what are they in now?
THe small tank is why they all kicked the bucket so fast. (6) 10" bass in a tank under a 100g is way to small. If you were close by Id give you a super deal on my 225g that is fs.

they're in a 55 now. Im well aware both are too small, but that's why they're grow out tanks. It's also why they have an fx5 to keep up with filtration. Until this happened everything in the tank was healthy. Plus two sponge filters on separate air pumps, I figured I'd be safe for oxygenation. Obviously I was wrong...

Eventually they'll go in a 300 but right now the RTC needs to get moved out of there and put in to his pond, the tinfoil barbs need to be moved out of that pond and in to the tank. Then the gar, breeding pair of longfin oscars, and Endli bichirs need to be moved from the 125 to the 300 also. Then it'll be safe for these guys to go in the 125. Once they get a couple more inches, they'll get moved to the 300. Right now they're just small enough to be a meal for the Endli and gar, and get beat up by the oscars

17-18". There's also a 16" TSN that could pose a threat if really hungry.

Either way, I moved a ton of fish around today and I'm going to move more tomorrow. I don't trust my 55 setup anymore so I'm cutting down the stock to bichirs only and making it fool proof.

So these two got moved to the 125 today. There was some expected aggression from the oscars. The larger hybrid can hold her own but the kel is still a bit too small for my comfort.

So tomorrow, the big catfish get moved out of the 300 tank, the TSN, gar, oscars and Endli all get moved in to the 300 tank. So the 125 will then be safe for the bass.
