Looks like you are using Soilmaster Select for the substrate. If so, it is really a tough substrate to first get plants started in. But once the plants have good roots I bet they would fair better against the catfish.

i dont know what Soilmaster Select is but the sand is just common 'sand blasting sand', maybe thats the same but all the plants are down
I got rid of the Walking Catfish after a long and hard thinking. All the tankmates are calmer and plants alot happier
