I've just added a few plants to the setup to add some green. I've never used live plants before, and I know the JDs will move them around/eat them, but I just had to try! One of my lightbulbs is a 6700K plant light, so...

Anyway, there's one XL Radican Sword, one XL Amazon Sword, one Giant Micro Sword (oxymoron?), and a batch of Java Moss spread around the driftwood. I'll post pics one the water clears a bit.

Needed some green in there. Still cycling with the rosies and ghost shrimp. Planning on moving in the couple next weekend. I've since trimmed a few of the Radican branches as they were dying. I'm going for a rather minimalistic, but natural, look. All CA biotype swords plus java moss and what I believe to be a small java fern under the rock. I don't have much light (36 watts total), but I'm hoping things will be OK. I added some Flourish Excel today for the first time and will be using up the rest of the bottle until the cycle completes, and then we'll see what happens. I think the JDs may end up eating the plants, but at least this will have been an experience! Comments?

I think you did a great job, that is a very nice looking tank. I bought a shop light from walmart and use (2) 32 watt bulbs plus the stock (2) 15w hood lights and my plants are growing like crazy, hope yours do just as well. (My oscars have not destroyed them...yet)
