I bought these last December, so they are probably 10 to 12 mos old.

But I have fed these guys a lot of fresh guppies and frozen bloodworms, plus the best pellets. I thought they grew amazingly fast.

I did see Papa Bear eating the eggs.

But it is proved now that we have a breeding pair.
