New Eheim 2262

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I had one already used for my 1100gph pump 46 inch long x 3/4 inch,
all the holes are the same 1 inch apart and gives me a nice flow.
How about a DIY intake made with 1 inch pvc with a 1 x 8 Black Suction Screen {the pic is a 1 x 6 inch suction screen}, this should not have any affect on the pump I think its bigger than what comes stock with Eheim 2262 , Would having a sponge pre filter cause any concern?

Well, I used 3/4" PVC for intakes on one 2260 & one 2262 and the stock Eheim strainers with no problems. My 3/4" PVC has an interior diameter of 13/16" and the Eheim intake is just a hair under 7/8" I.D..

I'm not quite sure why you would want to go with 1" PVC because you will still have to reduce it down to connect to the Eheim intake hose. I think you will have to keep an eye on the sponge pre-filter because it may possibly clog faster than the stock strainer.

Will my old system is still up an running until I have everything ready for my Eheim 2262 to replace it . I'm using two 1x8 suction screens and 1 inch braided hose for my return.
I have a Blue Line 55 HD 1100gph pump , Nu-Clear 533 an 547 filter witch is all 1 inch
in/out . Beside the black looks better than Eheim Green , I have all this 1 inch stuff I don't like to throw away. But I also thought of painting the Eheim stock intake/return Black
with a little sanding an couple of coats and plenty of drying time.

I have also used the black spray paint for plastic after scuffing the surface. It works great on PVC, CPVC and Eheim green tubes.

I just don't care for the Eheim intake tube setup on this filter as it doesn't use a one piece J-tube. There are two halves that you join with a short piece of hose and it doesn't hang compactly like the regular J-tube. That's why I made my own using PVC.

Did you use two 1 inch elbows to get it over the rim? I'm using 2 of these right now
an would like to still use one with the Eheim 2262.

I used two 3/4" PVC 90's connected with a short piece of pipe on the 2262.

On the other 2260, we bent the 3/4" PVC pipe into a J-tube by filling it with fine sand, heating with a heat gun & forming the J-shape around a can.

Does the strainer you link to come with a slip connection rather than male threads?

Dee That Eheim 2262 tube that goes inside the tank with the inlet strainer , is that a 1 inch tube also?
I wounder if I get a 1 x 8 suction screen with a 1 inch slip will fit that tube?

The 2262 inlet strainer fits 3/4" Schedule 40 PVC (with a nominal OD of 1.050") perfectly. The Eheim stock inlet pipe is approx. 1" OD.

A 1" slip strainer should only fit 1" pipe which has a nominal OD of 1.315". So you would need to reduce the 1" pipe to 3/4".
