Yeah, they really are awesome fish. I have raised cichlids for so many years and always thought of them as the most outgoing, friendly, dog like personality in the fish world until I got the puffer. These guys are outgoing and personable maybe even more so than many cichlids. If anything were to ever happen to my pearsei... I think I would consider doing up the 300 gallon for a single fahaka puffer. Dont know if I would get bored with it being the only fish in there but it would be a fun one to keep.

He looks amazing! Spoilt in a 60 too! I only have a 15, not sure if that's enough...

What draws me to these is the looks, size and diet. Apparently less crunchy-craving than other puffers :)

Yeah puffers and gourami are right up there. I think Betta are too tbh.
I've considered the same but as of late I'm gonna close my 300 and get a 180 for a while. Might be moving and sod moving that lol....

You'll never go back. I use to be a huge cichlid guy then I ended up with a little F8 & a couple GSP's. Then it got away from me. I've never owned a hairy p before just the smooth ones. The price is still hovering around $80 which I'm not willing to drop just yet. Such a unique looking animal though.

15 is tight, maybe a growout, I would want a minimum of a 29 gallon but think a 40B would be the best. Nice thing is most of its food comes from my grocery store.

The first time I interacted with a giant gourami at the store I was impressed.

That is my fear, lol. I would never want another cichlid again.

Oh dear. A 15 is the biggest open tank I have, maybe up for reconsideration then :(:(

They are just messy fish and you will need the water volume. Plus they can be active enough to need more swimming room. My thoughts are a 40B for comfort but likely could pull it off in a 29 gallon unless you get one of the legendary ‘giants’ you hear stories about.

I've heard more reports of them being like a living rock haha. In that case I'll have to pass, there's NO way I can fit a 29 gallon in :(

Yeah, Ive heard both sides but my puffer is fairly active. Have you considered the tiny pea puffers? These would work in the 15g
