What media are you using in the Ultima? The ones pictured below? if so, not sure how this can trap particles as they don't clump together because of the pressure running through it causing them to swirl around? I guess that's why I've never had to backwash mine and the pressure has never increased on the gauge because no sludge has ever built up.

Mine is set up as TANK > SOCK (sump) > MATALA > PUMP > ULTIMA > Pentair Clean & Clear filter cartridge > UV > Tank

Nevermind, just saw the video. Guess it will trap particles.

The clear looks bad arse.... they should sell that.

after talking to Aqua Ultraviolet the media is "push down" during filtration so it trap all the particles..

she did mention that i oversize the filter... since when you "backwash" it does pump water out... at the pump flow rate! ugh... now i gotta figure out how to add more water back after a backwash! she also mention that my pump should be fine for backwash... because 2 pump will be too much for the 2" pipe to handle unless 1 has a valve...
