li,if i were you i wouldnt just keep those two barras together.
ive had barras kill each other like that.
at least get some dithers.
especially since they are not ordinary barras...

I don't think Li wanted anything else in the tank but the Mundi's. I got my fingers crossed it works Li!!! It should, but they have been solo fish for a minute.

Reason for the sump LOL... With that flow rate you'll back wash in a few seconds. Your water source is only good until the water level reaches your bulkheads. If you included a sump than you could have increased the water level in the sump to ensure enough water passes through when you back wash.

or change your set up to TANK > PUMP > SOCK > ULTIMA > TANK

Then you would not have to back wash as often since waste particles would be picked up by the sock.

just change the sock everyday

after talking to Aqua Ultraviolet the media is "push down" during filtration so it trap all the particles..

she did mention that i oversize the filter... since when you "backwash" it does pump water out... at the pump flow rate! ugh... now i gotta figure out how to add more water back after a backwash! she also mention that my pump should be fine for backwash... because 2 pump will be too much for the 2" pipe to handle unless 1 has a valve...

i forgot to mention.... this

so i called Aqua Ultraviolet about backwash and rise and it goes something like this...

Aqua Ultraviolet : the total time for backwash and rise will be about 5 minutes.. what size pump you have?

neoprodigy : 5000 gph at 10'

Aqua Ultraviolet : so you are looking somewhere between 450-500 gallon each time.

neoprodigy : well ....... i only have a 600 gallon aquarium.....

lol looks like someone put the cart before the horse....

I guess when you do the back wash, you will need to run the water back into the tank???

can you still return it? if you can I would recommend doing a sump with the 2262.

ok... i went to 6 diffrent Lowes... and i have clean out their 2" single union valves! so there are no more 2" single union valves east of washington dc!
