here is the plan over the next 5 days..

- pump 20% of 2 old tank waters into new tank.. daily...

- on the of the move.. drain 50% off the new tank... pump 2 old tank water in.. move both fish... then pump all the old water into the new tank...
may i say you are one of the first people ive ever seen who admits that there is validity in active tank water

not that im on your scale but when i set up new tanks i use as much old water from my tanks that are up an running as possible as well as i squeeze the old filter medium into the water an run the filters to clear the water then i watch like crazy with water changes to make sure i dont get a killer spike

look forward to seeing this tank up an running though i dont envy you moving such monster fish may you have nothing but the best with this

I always squeezed the living crap (no pun intended) out of the filter media (sponges, filter socks, sponge filters and etc). Sometime I even take all the bio balls and let it float all over the surface.

Let all the crap spread all over, run the filter until you don't see a whole lot of floating detrious. Once they're gone, they's in your filter now..

I used ALL old water if moving to a larger tank. It makes them feel comfortable to have lesser stress.

You can always do a water change later on LOL
