..If I'm being honest I was amazed and how well it ran, we did a none media test to see how it went and it did go well but obviously there were a few leaks, but none of which were on the pipe work that I'd welded, even the big stuff
I turned the big boi valve(it's pet name, I still say it's big enough for it's own thread) and the sieve filled and went over the weir and worked ridiculous well for the 5-10 minutes the system was on, granted a lot of waste has had time to settle in the under ground pipe but seriously
Then the weir shut off as it floated above the pond level(as it should) and then we turned the pump on, no need to fook about with hosepipes to prime the pump any more, fired first time straight into the nexus.
First leak(in red):
This is a threaded connection that came of off the nexus when I got it, I ran out of PTFE thread tape doing the pump and it does leak a touch, nothing serious, just need some tape on it job done
Second leak:
There is a leak from the screw on the right, it turns out that when I removed the plate that sits there to convert the unit from gravity to pump fed the nut didn't hold as well as the other one on the left. Tightened up job done
Third leak:
Unknown, the unit is leaking underneath somewhere(it was second hand), again nothing serious but is losing water somewhere from one of the drain pipes(each section has a drain pipe).
With the thing full of water and the waste lines not plumbed in(to waste) it took two hours to drain via siphon, to get everything out.
I remember seeing some tape as it was passed over to me over a fence to get it in. Solution, obviously the 'magic' epoxy but this late in the day everywhere was shut.
Tomorrow:
1. Buy 'magic' epoxy and fix the under side leak.
2. Get some PTFE thread tape and fix the screw connection
3. Open bottle of wine and sit and watch the pond clear, the internal vortex with no media took out so much crap on it's own even after the sieve
Thanks for reading my ramblings, a even bigger thanks to Dan 'next door' for helping, he really enjoyed it apparently
Happy pond keeping everyone
