how many pieces came with the drain?
Three, the main drain its self, the clamping ring for the liner and the air diffuser

Looking good.

Hole 2 is finished:

Then I started work on the drain hole:

Then I finished the drain hole and started work on the pipe work channels:

The car got patched up but I need a new one:irked: which is going to interfere with the pond costs and I ordered the other vortex today before I found out about the car, double:irked::irked:

The good news is that I only need the wood for the hoover dam bit at the back, the concrete collar, the liner and underlay, the air pump, UV and all the flagging around the pond and it's cost free from then:nilly::nilly:

Oh, and all the pipe connectors :nilly::nilly:

Seriously though if anyone can suggest a way to drill a 4 inch and a 1.5 inch hole through hole 1 and hole 2 that would be appreciated

take a piece of pipe (metal as thick as you need and hammer it in the run water in the hole to flush the dirt out...

Thanks Mike, just what I need, more unwanted water in the hole;) It could work though, I just don't want to accidentally hammer down the clay wall before the brace is in but the pipes needs to be before the brace:nilly::nilly:
