Hi.. I'm not a big fan of Clown Loach.. but have seen the hype most MFKers have in them.. and i happen to got myself a deal on a group of 7 Clown Loach..

I'm asking because I've had CL before.. but they seem to eat what my plecos were eating.. and some pellets..
But i've had loach that died for no reason... So i wanted to ask what are loache's diet?

I have Hikari Cichlid Gold Sinking pellet, along with Alage Walfers fro Plecos.. are they good enough?

Thanks!

I feed freshwater frenzy to my whole tank, and the loaches get plenty of it, because they're so quick. That's bloodworms, brine shrimp, sprirulina, glass worms... you get the idea. Also, I feed cucumber. They love, love, love the cucumber. And they also like spirulina wafers, massivore delite, sinking shrimp pellets... LOL they're not picky! I'd supplement with some of the wet-frozen foods listed above, or at least some cucumber. Something wet, to avoid constipation.

Clown loaches are predatory by nature but they also relish vegetable matter in their diet. You just need to make sure they get a varied diet which is the key to successfully keeping them.

Hmm.. seems like they would eat anything then...
But what about small loach? baby size of 1-2"? I dunno if they have problem with finding food or make its tankmate issues...

I currently have some CICHLIDS in that tank too.... FH frys... not by choice.. just fish that i couldn't sell from an accidental pregnancy from my Flowerhorns....

My loaches are only 2 and a half inches, at the most. Tank mates do matter -- if they're faster than the loaches, they'll outcompete them for food. This is why the cucumber would be a good idea. It'll stick around without fouling water quality, and they can eat it when they feel hungry.

HMM.. that is true..

I already feed my Plecos cucumbers anyways.. i guess its no problem feeding the loach the same thing..

thanks!

i do love clown loaches! cant wait to get a tank big enough for one

or 6

Ya at first i didnt care for them.. but now their kinda cool.. i do like schooling fish... I currently have 9.. 7 from today.. and 2 i've had for 6 months..

I find that mine do well with a lot of veggies in their diet, fresh veggies, veggie flakes and veggie tablets. This is what I give as their staple with some meatier stuff a few times a week. I'll also through in some Massivore Delight in the tank once a week.
