New to Clown loach.. what do they REALLY eat?

Massivore delight i have.. my lfs gave me some of the sample bags so i have maybe a few of these..

As for veggies.. i'll def cut up some cucumbers and other delightful vegges..

All my loaches pretty much loved eating everything. But I did separate my 1" loaches from the bigger ones and plumped them up on brine shrimp. All my loaches love earthworms and watermelon (click click) as well. Other than that I feed them the usual flakes, algae wafers (click click click), and homemade frozen food.

They dont care much for cucumber though - at least mine dont. I know many others feed theirs cucumber and they love it. Just not mine *shrug*

Ya i have never actually witness clown loach eat.. even with the 2 i had.. i did notice them clean up the excess food.. so for the longest time.. i didnt bother feeding them specifically..

But now its diff.. i want to try and feed these guys.. but they seem to just swim around and not really eating.. :confused:

The same thing happened to my 1" loaches when i first put them in my big tank. Didnt see them eat much except for morsels here and there that fall to the sand. They became more proactive in feeding once I put them in a 10 gallon. Try getting some frozen brine shrimp if u can, or cut up some bloodworms - mine had trouble slurping them up in their normal size.

hmm.. i'll give bloodworms a try again.. I had the other Hikari Blood worms.. in cube form.. but not sure if the loaches ate them...
 
Smaller CL's seem to have trouble sucking up big bloodworms, but they learn quickly. Mine love the Frozen Hikari Spirulina Brine Shrimp, too.
 
I've got a few 2" and a several 4-6" and if you give them a large enough portion of things like zucchini or cucumber, they can all graze at their leisure. Also if you really want some click click click noises from your tank, (learned this here of course) i went to wal-mart and bought some frozen small precooked shrimp. I run it under cold water for like 7 minutes, and usually cut 2 shrimp into 3 or so pieces each, and all the fish of all sizes can get some of it. It started off as a treat for them, and has become a major staple of their diet, plus you get a lot of shrimp for $5.99 if you are only feeding one or two of them a day.

hmm.. seems they eat almost anything then.. I wasn't sure if they could tear things apart since it looks as if their mouth is very small and almost no teeth... but i guess they can tear things apart..
