This might sound wierd but I saw my first leopard frog tonight in my other pond. Leopard frogs are super common in Minnesota, but down here in Costa Rica I've never seen one. I also live in a very dry part. For the last two years of owning a pond I've just had huge toads. I guess Kevin Costner and my Biologist father had it right when they said "build it and they will come."

The rock work is coming along nicely around the edge. I myself re-did the rocks around the skimmer because the mix was crappy and the rocks weren't pretty. I also thought the guys were getting lazy with the sealing around the rocks. I sure don't want leaks after we start cleaning up. I told them to use a paint brush and water instead of a trowel.

If you all haven't noticed yet I have pond skimmers/filters for a pond/pool. The correct set up is to seal the skimmer with the liner. Because I don't have a liner I'm making a box around the skimmer in case I have leaks the water will stay in between the skimmer and the skimmer concrete casing. In my other pond I don't even have a skimmer. The leaves just ended up in the settling tank and I clean them out from there. I know its not the most efficient method but I'm using whats available. Here in Costa Rica everything has about a 50% mark up. I bring what I can from the states and I wing the rest.
