New Tropical Pond

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I probably have about 40 african cichlids and there are babies all over the place. I'm so tempted to put some peacock bass in there, but I know they'll have it cleaned out in about a week.

Do it.....Peacock bass and aros would be much cooler than african cichlids. It would be a much brighter looking pond w/ all those big monster cichla swimming around.

I'm not a real big koi fan. They're too commercial for me. Tilapia are also big down here but I don't really like them either. I can see why though, they both grow super fast, they eat any crap you throw at them and they almost never die unless eaten. Then sometimes its even questionable. The Guapotes, peacock bass, etc. are much more selective of what they eat.

Here are some photos that I took this weekend in the rain. I also planted a couple of chinas "flowers" to add some more color under the heliconia's.

Looks like all the plants are really taking off! Pond looks great! Any new birds hangn out lately?

Nothing new, except for a crawfish that ended up in the filter. I put some one inch babies in about 4 months ago and the one I found was about 4 inches. I also forgot to mention that as far as water clarity goes I have a terminator uv light running with a 35 watt bulb that handles about 900 gallons per hour. My pool is about 26,000 gallons. What's wrong with this picture.

looking beautiful as always, sigh wish we could get some rain here, well after I get the liner in lol.
