The pool seems to be holding pretty well. We're getting quite a bit of evaporation these days because of the hot winds. We are coming into the hottest time of the year and its all I can do just to keep my heliconia's green. The flowers really start to bloom though when its so hot. The last picture is of a huge palm that I attached orchids on. I almost lost it due to it drying out. I think it was about the same time that I fixed the leak. Regardless I've had to start water it. I probably doesn't help that I covered the whole root system with concrete. The purple orchid is Costa Rica's national flower, the "Guaria Morada". Thanks again for all of the supporting comments. As I started out I just began remembering key moments growing up and I tried to re-create bit and pieces of that in my back yard. Also when I look at the grasses that I planted in the filter it brings me back to northern fishing in Minnesota and casting into the reeds and waiting for the big strike.

Filthy....

I can't believe the surrounding landscape growth. When first installed it you could see the fence, now it is almost solid foliage. The orchid palm is sick too. Is that just typical growth, or is it from the pool watering + silty poo that is giving them a boost?

So flipping jealous of your kids....

I'm waiting for another shipment from my fish guy to start putting fish in. I'm also going to be more selective. If I get something I don't like they reproduce like crazy and I can't get them out of there. I put tons of orchids on the palm to start because the palm where I had them before rotted and fell down. I'm watering the orchids twice a day because of the dry wind right now. In about a month and a half it will start raining like crazy.
