Thanks guys.
I have to admit that the fry surprised me with early swimming. Bernd's developed days later, started eating at 9 days. Mine swan free on the evening of day 5. I had just started a brine shrimp culture the night before. Last night I added another bottle and placed the bottles in a heated spare 10 gal tank to speed up hatching. I'll go to my fish room shortly to see what hatched.

I offered powdered fry food (Hikari) and shredded adult frozen brine shrimp last night, but they didn't take anything. Maybe it was still too early for them to eat, most still had a little residual yolk sac.

Stay tuned.

They're refusing powdered or frozen foods, but freshly hatched brine shrimp are quite popular

They look incredible. The fry appear to be staying at the nest. Is that the instinct of the fry or herding by the parents? And, do they leave the nest area to feed then return to the nest once they've finished eating?
Do you plan on seeding the tank with live cyclops and/or daphnia magna? Perhaps, FW fairy shrimp?

Hi Oddball, the fry seem to be drawn to the nest. Having said that, the parents constantly stand guard together. When it came to feeding, the fry swam away to hunt nauplii, but only about 1ft wide, or 2 ft deep - and they always returned once the nauplii were gone. The parents did not have to do anything. Having said that, the nest is starting to disintegrate. The male is no longer replenishing the bubbles. They have now spread over a diameter of 9'' and <0.5'' tall, as compared to a couple of days ago, when it was still 2.5'' above the water level. The fry is no longer as closely tied to the nest but spreads out a bit more in that general area. None have explored the left 4ft of my tank.

As for in-tank live foods: Those are great suggestions, but my two Eheim create too strong of a current for daphnia or cyclops. I was actually trying to get live cyclops cultures at my LFS today, but their last shipment arrived frozen...
I may take a drive to Absolutely Fish next weekend to see what live foods they have, I've never even considered fairy shrimp. Thanks for the suggestion!!!

I've now entered the brine shrimp business...
warm circulating water keeps the temp up for improved hatching in my cool basement.

There are numerous live culture vendors on AB and ebay. I've bought SW cultures for my marine tank. A while back, I bought a fairy shrimp culture for feeding cichlid fry. Received a small culture that I was able to dry and re-use for a couple of years. I was able to increase the original 1/4 cup population to one that nearly saturated a 75 cal. Even with all the shrimp I fed out.
