So it turns out that an exchange student who was attending one of our nearby schools is in deep do doo over threats that he has made. The kid warned a few other students not to come in on a certain day because he was going to hurt some people. The student was reported, authorities went to the home he was staying at and recovered quite a few interesting items such as ballistic vests,a military helmet and a crossbow rifle. The kid was arrested but he has claimed that he was merely playing a joke on his friends.

to some extent you can not blame the school, there hands are tide. same as those of responsible parents, taking my kid to court for the third time for violating the becca bill tomorrow. can thank Obama for that one. let me knock him on his arse and he will go to school, koombiya aint going to do it.

I agree with being able to knock him on his arse, but didn't the Becca Bill come into effect in the mid 90's? I thought it passed the year after I graduated high school.

Wow thank God nothing came of this

Yes indeed and get this....one of the tv newscasters totally incorrectly stated that the kid had an AR15 in his room but no such thing was found there by authorities.

See that's just stupid man

Hello; Interesting. I was physically disciplined and have never been prone to solving problems thru violence. I also physically disciplined students the first 10 to 15 years of my teaching career and have not seen such a tendency among the ones I know.
Is it not a fact that over decades, if not centuries, physical discipline was the norm and we did not have school shootings? Seems to me that this has become currently common in the era since such discipline measures have been pretty much taken away??
I attribute it more to the poor mental health resources here. Also, a ton of the shooters' motivations tend to be from bullying and wanting to go down in infamy. Regarding the effects of spanking :

Gun costs: 600-1000 dollars

Article on the costs [/QUOTE]
Guns can be naught in bulk for as little as $10 each if you buy in large volumes

For a short time I wanted to do the same. Our neighbors home school there kids and don't get me wrong those kids are sharp but are seriously lacking in the personality Dept. I kind of feel bad for them. Seem always nervous and awkward. What happens when they go out into the workforce
They have difficulty finding jobs becaus they haven't graduated from any real school

Sounds extremely annoying,as he doesn't have much in weaponry
