OMG, the "LFS" is using mollies to test saltwater!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
^ x 2 And wouldn't it be great to have your own shop! Most places charge so much for retail rental spots, the only way most can do it is out of their own home/basement.

My bird is 13, theirs is 20.

My problem isn't with having mollies in saltwater. I've known that they are good for cycling saltwater tanks for some time now. There are two problems with what they are doing;

Mollies are not being acclimated
They don't know how salty the water is.

Wow, that is an impressive level of stupidity.

Animal cruelty at best. If it were kittens they were torturing and killing they would be arrested, but fish just get flushed and no one cares.
My thoughts exactly and very much sig worthy.

anyone else wondering why this dude is car free and why it was such a dramatic event that he named an online handle after it? Sorry for the derail but curious minds want to know

You are right, I work at the local pet store and large parrots reflect exactly how they are cared for, your bird looks better because you care more. As for the mollies, I had a 20 gal. that was slowly acclimated to 20 ppt for all my SW predators. It is these types of owners that tarnish the image of true pet lovers/keepers.

Well, long story short, it involved diesel in a gas tank and a tall cliff. I kid of course. i accidently mispelled "carefree dude" and i cant seem to change my name.

I took my hydrometer down there and asked if i could test their water. they let me.

Tank 1: 39PPT
Tank 2: 35PPT

of the original 20, only one is still alive in tank 2. I gave them the hydrometer, and told them the salt needs to be in the marked range in order for saltwater fish to live. They gave me a "we'll do it how we want to do it" response. i wouldn't be surprised if my hydrometer is in the trash right now.

U can ask Lupin to change it for u but anyway u should acclimate some mollies (bought from another store) to saltwater and sneek some in his tank to mess with him lol
