MANILA, Philippines—Plastic products and nails were found in the stomach of a dead female whale shark that fishermen found early Wednesday morning near the Manila Bay breakwater just a stone’s throw from the Manila Yacht Club.
These were the initial findings of a necropsy performed Wednesday afternoon on the whale shark (popularly known in the country as butanding), said Theresa Mundita Lim, director of the Protected Areas and Wildlife Bureau.
The whale shark (Rhincodon typus), estimated to be at least 2 years old, was 17 ½-feet (5.2 meters) long and weighed more than a ton.
Eyes gouged out
Greg Yan, information officer of the World Wide Fund for Nature-Philippines (WWF-Philippines), said his group had named the whale shark “Bulag” (blind) after discovering strange injuries to both its eyes.
“The eyes were virtually gouged out,” he told the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

How can it NOT die, the bay beside our city has near toxic waters. People litter, throw their garbage, homeless people build homes near it. God help this country...:wall:

Wow! That is the first 20 pager i have read start to finish. I was thinking about building a 1000 gal diy plywood pond, but this may be even better considering my limited carpentry skills. Something to think about since it will be at least a couple years until i get a house to put this monster full of monsters in.

great job sir. been reading this all night and i just realized it was you who took those silvers from the forums a few weeks ago (i really considered gettin them=p) . haha, great job all in all.

I really think it would be nice to put endlis/ornates there. endlis are getting common here.. in a warehouse i went to they had huge ass ornates which were sold at just around 1800-ish. maybe a marble cat would look good in there too.

the chilca ideas from the earlier pages seems pretty decent too tho they wouldn't look as good when seen from a tank. how bout some gars? (but not gators)

the rays would require a few rearrangements in the tank if you decide to push through.. we're usually limited to motoros and sometimes the oh so expensive leos...

lastly, i'd have to advice against the pimas. tho they are really easy to acquire here in the phils, they get to big and consume too much food. i used to house on and had a pond purposely built for it but it eventually had to go since it's eating more than our housekeepers. @_@

if u want more exotic fishes sir, i can hook you up with people i know. you can really get bargain price from them since they're usually direct importers and wholesalers. though, most of them are in QC. just pm me

Re: Endlis. I would love endlis however, I just don't seem to have the patience to grow them out. I want those BIG ones, but those seem to be kinda steep for such smallish fish. I would love to have a Marble cat for sentimental reasons, I had one when I was just starting out in the hobby like 10 yrs ago, back then I didn't do water changes :screwy: and kept the Marble Cat in a 30G, fed it up good and big, of course it died after a while.

Re: PBass, don't think I would want a fish with an RTC-ish appetite for live feed. Live feed = parasites.

Re: Stingrays, as I get more experience and gain more confidence, I will eventually look at getting some rays.

Re: Pimas, :ROFL:at your Pima eating more than your help. I was really just kidding about getting one, I don't think a 10' round pond is big enough for one.

Will drop you a PM for your contacts, always appreciate being able to get more bang for the buck.

What are you housing now in the pond that you constructed for your Pima?
