I'm quite a dog-person and am proudly anti-cat. I passionately detest their feline ways and am irritated by their arrogant demeanor, their lack of loyalty in general and of course, their awful, no retched smell.

Just suddenly realized the RTC is a CATfish. If it so much as sniffs the ray, I'm stabbing it with my kid's pencil--the dull unsharpened one.

hi im not saying u should do this but its what i did and it seemed to work just fine as ive had no problems at all. i built my own 825 gallon tank/pond in my garage and had it up and running for like 2 days then put a tester fish in it to see how it would react to the water it lived fine and was eating the next day. so i exchanged some of my bio balls from my 2 150 gallon tanks and put them in the filter on the 825 gallon tank then waited a few more days i think 3. then came the big test i put my 20 inch red tail cat and a 16 inch hybrid red tail cat 2 14 inch marble cats and my 15 inch orange catfish in there all within 10 mins and its a like 3 weeks later and there all doing great. now i added salt start right and bio boost and let it sit in there once i added the tester fish before any of my big guys went in. this sounds risky but it worked for me and ive done similar things like this with much smaller tanks with the same results so i must be doing something right.

Lol. I don't even know why they call them catfish other than the barbels (Dogs have barbels too.) But they (catfish) beg like dogs, like being pet (unlike cats) once they get used to your hands, make a barking/growling noise when pulled out of the water, and do many more things that are more dog like than cat like.

HUH?

I would have added those cats one at a time with a minimum of 5 days interval to give the bb's time to multiply and the overall tank to stabilize. I pretty much did what you did but put in a 27" ID Shark to be the tester.

Imagine the horror that will be upon me in this thread if I actually fried an RTC, I'd be burnt at the stake, please don't encourage me like that... ;)

I plan on doing the same pond thing you have done. Love the thread.
Great! Drop us a link here and we'll visit your pond build thread when it's up.

You're absolutely right. Let's call them RTDs from now on...hehe.
