DAMN!!! THAT IS TIGHT!!!!! NOT GHETTO AT ALL!!! Tell me more about you filter. Pumps and water changes how often?
I believe my posts covers the filtration system in much detail--go ahead and ask specific questions if you have any. Water change regime depends a lot on whether it rains or not. Back when it was summer (here) a couple of months back, I used to do 50% weekly, that's 500G of water that I bring out into blue drums in the garden. The maids then use the water to irrigate the lawn (another earth/money saving practice). They tend not to do it if it rains, thus, my water change regimen is affected by rain fall.
Last time I checked, my Nitrates were at around 10-15ppm, not too shabby huh?

You are my indoor pond HERO!!!! Did you get the bamboo??? I think I will have to bite that idea for my pond. You can see it on the gar forum. Not as Cold as yours Tho. Very Nice work. Love how creative you were and frugal. I may try to upgrade my filters to your specs.
Thanks for your kind words. The real hero is MFK where like-minded individuals with out of the box fish keeping ideas get the encouragement and validation to do crazy stuff that others have done and are doing.
I first just thought of using the pool as a pond as a crazy idea. Then I saw that it has been done here, it gave me the confidence to do it, plus so many helpful people willing to give excellent information.
I really take great pride in doing all this with the most minimal expense but not compromising the welfare of the fish, except perhaps for the fact that I'm not covering it and am giving the silvers free will to jump out.
I haven't gotten myself to do that bamboo thingy...YET.

I did some research and what I read said that the growth rate is usually determined by what the ray eats, how much it eats, and water quality/conditions. Hopefully nothing's wrong with your ray; it seems like a very nice addition!
I feed my ray a lot until 100% and my water conditions are pristine, need to do more research to determine if indeed there are problems that I'm not addressing.
