Some random updates:

1. One of the silvers jumped to its death again, that guy was around 24" or so, so now, I have a 30" and a 20"++

2. After 2.5 months of trying to break-in, the 2 foot Albino ID Shark started to eat. 2.5 months--incredible!

3. My FRT and Ray seem to be co-existing without much issues.

4. Added a pair of Giant Gourami's in there, they're about 15" or so.

5. About to buy 59 pcs of Silver $$$. :WHOA:

Hey there!:)
Very sad that you lost an arow again:(
If you not cover that thing you'll always have the same problem with these fish.
I covered mine with fish net so i never see one of my babyies in the floor!;)

I've been experimenting on the feeding frequency of my fish, specifically the meat eating Arowanas. I went from a daily feeding of 80% full with once a week fasting, to a 1 feeding every 3-4 days.

This week, after 4 days of fasting, my prized 30 inch silver was not in the mood and was very testy.

I decided to give it a foot long thawed frozen fish. I guess it might have been a bit too much as as it grabbed the fish, dove down with it and jumped out.

Mental note: don't give over-sized food to hungry monsters.

My thoughts:

1. I still think your aussie aro/jardini will beat up your RTC in time, but since this is a "temp arrangement", I guess it will do for now if you are watching them closely.

2. RTC's are PIGS. They will eat anything meaty and they will eat a lot of it. So, from a practicality stand point, it doesn't really make sense to feed RTCs pricey Massivore pellets or MP, or even SW. Beef heart is called Beep Hart in the Philippines  Puso ng Baka bro. Just go to the wet market and ask them if they have one, you won't find them in the groceries. Should cost P300 ($6.50)++ for one, which might last you 3-4weeks depending on your feeding. Once you get it, REMOVE all white matter these are indigestible for fish, you can only feed them the meaty red part. Cut them up into smaller pcs and put them into ice candy plastic para you can freeze them into a per feeding/serving size. The cheapest alternative would be small 3-5" galunggong which should cost anywhere between P90/kilo. They sometimes sell some that have their stomachs out (not so fresh) for P65 ($1.5)/kg, those are the best deals! I suggest go for galunggong, cheap and practical, I don't suggest BH because it will actually cause your RTC to grow faster, would you really want that?

And finally, please don't feed the RTC till their stomach look like it's gonna pop, it is not a good idea for any fish to be overfed.

Hey man just read threw this this entire thread. Great job. Everything is looking great and definitely inspirational.

Question: Did you ever get that bamboo fencing around the tank? If so I'd like to see that.

And i just recently got into African Butterfly fish and was wondering if they would work in your pond. I know they might be too small and get ate, but i also think that they are some of the best looking fish from "above."

Congrats on everything.
