We went back to the small lagoon where these fish were caught this past May and someone is developing the property, all the trees were gone and the water was nasty with an oil slick on the surface. So looks like the wild population is gone. Ken
Well, good news. I spoke to Rusty the other day. He said:

BTW, the fish is in the main river at the Danto bridge and all the way up the coast towards Truhillio but has been replaced by the introduction of the maneguense. It is definitely not new but a colorful variant of loiselli.
So more wild fish are out there.

Hello ken big dovii recommended me to you. Do you have any male dovii for sale? Hopefully a pair but male is just fine. That is one of my favorite guapotes. I currently have a pair of managuense, male is about 14in and have a pair of red tiger mota's with fry. The fry are 4 weeks of age so if you are interested let me know. Looking to breed my midas. need a female if you have one.

i recommend that you just pm ken directly and take this offline.
this is detracting from the purpose of this post.

so what exactly is this fish? to me it looks like a mix between loiselli and mota... it's interesting for sure, but is this a naturally occurring hybrid?

They don't have the same range as Motoguense, but Managunse have been introduced in the area and are displacing them rapidly. Rusty thinks they are a nice color morph of Loiselli, I think a new species. Ken

they have the body of the Mota and Loiselli but since those seem to be full grown they arnt displaying any of the same colors. and purple on the sides, that sounds Dovii like. Im hopeing and assuming a new species. Man astounding find.
