On the second point, I too again apologize for my mumbled wordage, wherein it could be construed that I suggested that the OP fish could be a tig. In no shape or form did this thought ever crossed my mind. I tried to draw a parallel between young tigs and young piraibas, the related fish from the same genus, where both can be found (largely) devoid of pattern and appear almost solid colored.
Mangaruyu (used for several catfish species including the jau).
