patching 3" sump holes in 180g acrylic

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well the reason why im not planning to use those holes is because the holes are in the middle of the tank so I think it will look bad and also waste space in the tank. But if I were to do 2 bulk heads on the back as over flows would i need to Y them together or have them running seperately into the sump?

Awesome thanks for all your guys advice, i did end up purchasing bulkheads and will be plugging the bottom. And will be drilling on the back left and right top for overflows.

Just a reminder, I did the top and bottom. If your only going to use one plug on the bulkhead fitting, can I sggest you use the top? It seems more safe to have the weight of the water pushing down on the top then being supported by PVC glue from underneath.

If there is a leak it will be rather slow if the leak is on the top (more time for you to notice and take action) vs. the bottom popping off and and emptying your tank. GL :D

I have 2 holes on my 300g floor, I ran plumbing from each to the inside edge of the stand with a shut-off valve on each- I finished each line with male garden hose fittings- so 50% weekly water changes arent as much of a PIA as the smaller tanks- the icing on the cake is the 2 pieces of PVC that I thread into the bulkhead inside the tank- each one goes 50% of the way up, so if I ever forgot what I was doing, I cant drain the tank
