Wow! he was really innovative. Being a reefer was tough back then without all the technology.
thats great to hear :)
he was just as impressive with his
diving
fishing
shooting fish underwater
collected his own shells and entered shell shows and won lots of awards
he was a fish guy all his life
:)

Looks to be a queen angel and a 'rock beauty' in one tank. Not sure about the eel.

heres my 240g 8x2x2 tank with special side filter :naughty:

some might not know the story so here it is.......

my grandpa made this take about 30 years ago for one of his best friends
think the friend said he paid 500 bucks "30 years ago"

my gramps made him the
stand,
tank with side filter
2nd w/d plumbed outside his friends house
3ft diy uv filter
lights and so on

it was always saltwater
he said he was growing coral in it "coral the friend collected from exotic places"
i believe it he had so much light on the tank i removed 2 light housings and it would still cloud the tank in less then a day
bought a smaller uv and with less light its fine now
:D

so back on track
30 years later my gramps hears his friend is getting out of the hobby and thinking of selling his tank

my gramps asks me,would you be interested,i said,uh,ya,of course :D
"at that exact time is the space continuum :grinno: i had a 18" silver aro in a 90g long"
was just so perfect of timing

so i say i cant pay much
his friend tells him to tell me to come get it,free :WHOA:

so after getting 6 guys we went and got it

my gramps built this tank in his friends house
it was never moved till we moved it
we moved it on the stand cus i didnt want to tweak the tank at all :D

so after i got it i began putting the midnight twist on it :D
i cleaned for a week or 2 "sw stains are tuff to remove"
i ripped all the thin wood off and put peg board on the back and still have to finish the new plywood
also the stand didnt have shelves cus the w/d was outside,so i added those
then had to cut down the bio box so the w/d would fit under the tank instead of outside
added a new background and fish and decor and thats it
:)
sorry that was so long :irked: lol

:grinno:
here it is
the mack daddy of tanks
:naughty:
my aro would love this tank
:D
wish i could have seen this in person
my dad said he helped with it,lucky
:)
im unsure on the size of this 70's monster
this is no lie
where that tank was i measured
it was
15 feet from wall to wall
so im guessing the tank was 14 feet long, give a foot for that side filter and spaces
but that throws off the lights :irked:
how long are the lights?
i see gaps between them so 4- 3 footers?
cant be 4- 4 footers cus that would be 16 feet and im pretty positive it is 15 feet wall to wall
"will double check next trip over there"
