I say to each his own......Im not going to go a give my fish some but....Its not doing the fish any real harm its just a cruel to keep them in a tank for there life rather that let them be in the wild if you ask me.......I mean really why make such a fuss about this...I dont think anyone is out there to cause there fish pain they are just trying to be diffrent and I say leave it be........ Sometimes there is just a little to much sensitivity in the world now a days

first off i want to say i do fish. but i grew up with my father always saying "if you catch it you eat it" "if you kill it you eat it" (the later refering to hunting) i always do so.
i think the peirceings is cruel because of the weight. fish dont live with weight out infront of them. im agasint fishing for sport, but atleast they wont live with this weight on them.

After reading this whole thread i'm actually quite surprised by some of the answers, and for people that compare a fish getting a piercing to a human getting a piercing that just seems wrong...
I mean think about it this way, Humans, have a choice to have it done to themselves on their own will... where as i doubt a fish would CHOOSE to have its lip pierced... not to mention, after watching the video of the oscars with lip piercing, it just looks uncomfortable... to me it looks no different to a fish having a hook hanging/dangling out of its mouth, except it will never come out...
Also, i wonder what they have to do to the fish to get the piercing through... since i doubt they can just grab the fish and stick the piercing through without having to handle the fish in some stressful way...

stupid and cruel I would say yes. Shocking, outrageous and worth getting worked up over probably not. The cruelty in my mind would mostly occur if the stud makes it hard for the fish to eat.
It's probably actually better then fishing for sport, since you make sure the animal is ok after the injury.

well maybe if they didnt use spikes that were way to big for any human, and had a better sized spike they would look ok but those fish just look ridiculous.
