Any structure that they can duck around will help.

they say 20 gs per fish.. i do not agree . I have 6 in a 90 and they are very happy

It's really more about the footprint of the tank rather than the gallons. While some height is nice, floor space is really the most important thing in keeping piranha or most any fish for that matter. I'd never keep any P's in a tank less than 18 inches front to back just for the turning room an I'm not one to overcrowd fish either. I keep hearing the old "20 gallons per fish" thing and shake my head. Piranha are fast swimming ambush predators, the more gallons per fish you can give them the better off they are. One of the nicest piranha tanks I ever saw was a 72"x24"x24" with 5 10" fish. They had plenty of room to move, hide out and have their own little territories or swim in a pack while hunting for food. Bigger is always better.

Fire is 100% correct!!Pygos are different they tend to grow much faster, but i kept my Black Rhom in a 20 long for over a year and a half,i got him at 3 inches,he grew about an inch in a year and a half,i then put him in a 55 gal tank for 2 years,he grew maybe 2 more inches then i bought a 125 gal tank and he lived there the rest of the time that i owned him,he grew to about 12 inches. :clap

you asked bout plants, i would go with plastic with p's, the less you gotta stick your arm in there the less nervous you are, always gotta keep one eye on p's and one eye on what your doing, never been bit and dont plan on it.
