The "best" is which ever you have tried and has delivered good results for you. The comment about the roots rotting, to me is off. It's true they might do that in soil, but in a fully aquatic enviroment they do quite well.always4lora;5077283; said:

The bulk of your plants are Spathiphyllum or commonly called "Peace Lily."
The green and white leaved plant is a Dieffenbachia or commonly called "Dumb Cane." This is the one that could cause a major upset in your tank and kill your aquatic life. The low stuff is Bacopa sp? The higher stuff is papyrus I think (its been a while) and the lil guys are black mangroves I'm growing outalways4lora;5077859; said:

I'm on board for sure. I have many pothos cuttings in many tanks now, and I just snagged a peace lily sprout from a plant pot. It hasn't sprouted any aquatic roots yet, though. Maybe it's a similar species that can't go aquatic...

One part of this puzzle that I haven't seen worked on is which plants will out-compete which other plants for which nutrients. Pothos easily starve elodea, and it seems that spider plants and pothos are matched for thirst, but can a mangrove grow at all in the presence of greedy vines like pothos?
