Just looking for some plant ideas :) I have setup a 2.5G tank on my bathroom counter for a rather nice looking betta I got out of a small childs hands at walmart as he was about the throw the cup with the fish in it:screwy: I have fitted the tank with 2 nice looking yet micro pieces of wood I plucked out of my 150...Ive attached java moss to the wood so that eventually it will form a lovely over grown look...but it just needs something else. Right now I have a whisper 3i internal filter but Im going to upgrade it to one of those Azoo micro hang on filters. Lighting is a screw a 15watt incandescent bulb that Im going to trade out ofr one of those screw in flourescents. Id prefer something floating....or something that stayed tiny, thats still very low key as I dont wish to build a co2 injection system or dose with ferts.:D

duck weed is great for a floater .

post some pics when ya get it going .

I was thinking of using some salvinia as a floater, any other ideas? Anyone else have a planted tank this small?

With the amount of maintenance you will need to do, I would not go overboard with permanent plants. I think the wood and moss will be pretty. Maybe a med fake plant for him to cling to....

Dont want to make the tank too hard to clean.a sprig of hornwort is a nice floater you just have to keep it trimmed

Im definatly not going to get to complicated with something this micro...it is a challenge to make such a small tank visually appealing tho. I noticed this morning my java is pearling and has grown in quite a bit :) Thanks for the plant suggestions Im going to look into those as well.

for smaller tank... buy smaller leafed plants... makes the tank seem bigger then it really is

Get some anacharis and just let it float, thats what i did with my betta tank, its easy to take care of and grows like a weed...
