great tank. I would have never thought those lights that I use all over the house to save enery would work for a planted tank.

They are the common types sold or special types for planted tank?

those bulbs happen to be the wall mart special there GE daylight version with a 6500k rating nothing special it was 8 bucks for all four

I also am using the same compact flourecent bulbs on my 10g and 29g. I also use the exo terra reptile incandecent fixtures. The cost, doesnt save that much initially, but it is easy, and replacement bulbs are really cheap... When I end up needin some. Fixture at petsmart is 25-35 depending on length. + the 2-4 dollar bulbs.

Yes I saw the fixture looks perfect for it. I was thinking of dome spot light type fixtures but the terra fixture does look nicer and price is great.

in the tank is a kenyi a gold Malawi an electric blue johanni and the two little ones are a mix of the electric blue and the kenyi

i thought those hoods only held two bulbs though i striped my hoods fluorescent bulb ballasts and horrible reflector outa it to make that one using ceramic sockets and the tie in the middle is for an exhaust hanger
