Umm, not urgent yet but how do you tell the sex of some of these fish. I don't want to end up getting more than 1 male and 4 females.

Some species such as Lamp. caudopunctatus are difficult to sex even as adults. My husband uses a jewelers loop to vent his Lamp. caudopunctatus and L. leloupi, as their genitals are difficult to see and note differences without magnification.
Its a magnifying glass that you hold up to your eye.. i have one in my fish arsenal hehehe.. but it will let you see clearly and closer so you can vent your fish to determine sex..
It will let you see the vents very clearly is what it will do something like this -

In larger fish you will be able to see this clearer but with small fish you will need to use the magnifying glass to view the vent area..
