All LJ have potential to get over 20”, just takes time.I think you should talk to the poly pros about this. Anyhow I still don't think it will work but if you have your heart set on it, polypterus enlichieri, congicus, delhezi, and other lower jaws would suffice. However with such an elongated form as a bichir has, the water cow will be able to eat it. You need to make it longer than the water cow and none other than the record-holding bichirs are going to pass 20 in.
If you want the safest thing, I would say a fire eel.
water cow doesn’t need 250, a 120 will suffice. Fire eel I agree. However, you have to give me definitive tank size because a 250 would be minimal for water cow and fire eel.
anyone who’s kept a large fire eel will tell you they need a big tank. They get real girthy. I agree as well gars need big tanks, best bet is a Florida gar But like mentioned for aro id recommend minimum of 2.5’ maybe 3’.most gars need a really big tank, same for most bichirs. Fire eels are mostly recommended in smaller tanks... they do get around 1 meter so I dont know why they are recommended in smaller tanks then 2meter, and I personally think that 2meters is way to small for a fire eel
